Went from 195/45 Pirelli Cinturato winters to 205/50 Michelin X-Ices and now my car looks sort of stancebro (and made the guys at the shop pretty happy). They feel waaaaaaay better already. Naturally it’s 50 out so I couldn’t find any snow to play on.

+1 on the X-I ces. I’m rocking the same!
( Also +1 on dirty winter look)

That looks good. I think it’s supposed to snow Sunday so you’ll get a chance to try them out soon enough.

Looks good!
Although it feels like you missed the worst of winter.

I washed it when it was 72 a couple weeks ago and it promptly snowed 10 inches. I thought about washing it today but more snow Sunday so nah.

My “driveway” is soup.

I put new BF Goodrich tires on my Focus a couple of weeks ago. It doesn’t snow enough in NW Ohio to justify winter tires here. All seasons do just fine 99% of the time. New tires do feel nice and smooth.

I like the look, but does the reduced arch clearance cause problems driving in snow and slush?

We apparently passed some law requiring snow tires or AWD/4WD west of Denver from September 1 through May 31. At least now I can do some snowshoeing.

That looks so good. I always end up liking my winter setups more than the summers for some reason.

That’s a fair point. Probably, but I’ll take those problems over the lack of traction with the Pirellis.

Wasn’t really making a point so much as wondering out loud. I’d likely make the same choice.

I wasn’t being a smartass, it really wasn’t something I’d thought about! I originally was just going to replace the fronts but the only smaller snow tires we could find were the Pirellis.

Same here, outside of Chicago. We’ll get that snow Monday so I might get a wash in this weekend, Sunday probably, just to get all the salt off.

No, I know that. I didn’t want you to think I was questioning your judgement. Hopefully the increased diameter will do the job it’s supposed to without causing too much loud scraping and clogging.

Hey, I was almost stuck at Midway on Wednesday!
(And when I did get to Denver, I saw two cars sliding sideways down the highway a couple miles from home, so I finally b it the bullet on the tires.)

I’m sensing a twitching Zoidberg with the hidden Tercel.

It does look tough, I'd be scared to see it in an alley.

Don’t curse us, we’ll end up with another 3 foot blizzard in March or something. I’m just hoping to go play in the mountains now.

Nice! Nothing is better than new meats, when they’re good meats!

I never n oticed any issues from that. I'd often be too lazy to clear out the wheel wells and a big crusty mess would freeze solid between them and the tires. Always broke up fine once the wheels got moving though

Those pirellis aren't great, but those Michelins are quite good!
